Not only are biscuits delicious, but they are extremely versatile. This is a great recipe. Quick and easy. Biscuits go great with any meal or as a snack with jam or cheese. They are especially delicious when used for Strawberry Shortcake or Chicken a’ la King as well.
Directions:
Yield: 18 to 20 biscuits (app. 1 and 3/4″)
- Blend flour, salt and baking powder together in a medium sized mixing bowl.
- Cut in shortening using a pastry blender or a fork. Shortening should be the size of peas.
- Stir in milk to form a soft dough.
- Dump dough onto lightly floured counter and gently knead 8 to 10 times. Roll or pat down to 1/2 inch or desired thickness and cut with a floured cookie cutter.
- Place biscuits onto a parchment lined baking sheet about one inch apart. Bake in preheated 400°F oven for approx. 12 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, place on wire cooling rack and enjoy!
Candra’s Notes:
Biscuit dough should be soft, but not sticky. A little kneading will improve the quality of your biscuits, but, this should be done very gently as too much handling will result in tough biscuits.
Ingredients:

Hi Lily,
yes you can use half butter and half shortening or you can go ahead and use all butter in place of the shortening. I do that a lot and add some grated cheese just for variation.
Take Care!
Candra 🙂
Candra, Can I use butter in addition with the shortening?
