This is an old time favorite which is still holding it’s ground today. It’s easy, economical and delicious! Coffee cake is also a delicious idea to bring to any get together!
Directions:
Yield: One bundt cake
- Grease a bundt pan with shortening and lightly dust it with flour and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add the sugar and butter and mix together using an electric hand mixer until it is light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and mix together.
- In another bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt).
- In another bowl or large measuring cup, mix together the wet ingredients (milk and vanilla).
- Mix together the dry and wet ingredients alternately to the sugar and egg mixture. Add about a third of the dry ingredients and then mix. Then add about 1/2 of the wet ingredients and mix. Continue alternating like this until all the dry and wet ingredients have been mixed into the sugar and egg mixture.
- In a small mixing bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts.
- Pour about half of the batter into the bundt pan. Then pour half of the brown sugar, cinnamon and nut mixture over the cake batter. Pour the remaining cake batter into the bundt pan and top with the remaining brown sugar mixture.
- Pre-heat the oven to 350° and cook the cake on the center rack for about 60 minutes.
- Let the cake cool before topping with glaze. Be sure to watch the video below for instructions on removing the cake from the pan and finishing with a glaze. To make the glaze, mix together the 4 tsps of milk with the icing sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla.
