This basic cheese sauce recipe is quick and easy. It’s great served on pasta, potatoes, rice, fish, vegetables, or whatever your heart desires. Your kids will love this sauce. It’s a great way to get them to eat their Brussels sprouts!
Directions:
Yield: 4-6 servings
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until nice and frothy.
- Add the flour, pepper, salt and paprika. This will make the roux. Whisk together and continue whisking while it cooks.
- Add the cold milk to your sauce, a little at a time. Continue blending while adding the milk.
- Switch to a spatula and continue stirring as it thickens. This will prevent the sauce from burning and sticking to the bottom of the pot. When the sauce starts to coat your spatula, it is ready for the next step.
- Add the cheddar cheese. Continue stirring. It will thicken quite a bit as the cheese melts and mixes in.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce and blend.
Enjoy!
